LSD & Meditation

Prior experience combining the two seems to have a synergistic effect in elevating the sensitivity and spatial/bodily awareness of the meditative state. The following notes describe an experience last night of an approximately 1 hour meditation session approximately 6 hours after LSD ingestion, single tab dosage (chem test color marker for purity tested positive, precise dosage amount unknown), allowing for a new meditative insight:

Last night, was experiencing the tail-end (approx +6 since ingestion) of an LSD-induced mental state. Visuals were less pronounced, though still had greater sense of bodily sensitivity and spatial awareness. Highly aware of body and subtle vibrations throughout, most strongly felt as a slight tingling along the skin. Decided to meditate. Sat in half-lotus position on cushion, hands in lap. With eyes closed, found it much easier to mentally scan the body and have awareness of all extremities. LSD appears to increase my perception of my mental body map. Noticed that one of the muscles of my left eye was quite tense. Felt like my eye was being pulled to drift to the upper right quadrant nearest my nose (possible superior/lateral rectus). Have felt this sensation before while meditating, but with LSD dosage the sensation was more pronounced. Have tried to relax the muscle in the past by shifting my eyeballs around as if looking in a direction behind the eyelids opposite of the tension, or fixating/centering tension via gaze direction. Often it allows for some alleviation though the tension quickly returns.
Once again attempted to relax the eye muscle. Found it much easier to do so. realized that the right side of face had zero tension while only the left side appeared to tense up. Wonder if it has to do with left/right brain hemispheric access, dominant executive control, and/or thought restriction. Using the right side as a comparison, began to systematically attempt to concentrate on specific muscle tensions and create a balanced uniformity between the two sides. It felt like the left side was much heavier and stiff than the right side. Awareness shifted towards the middle of the face at the sinus cavity, and somewhat more inward an inch or two behind the nasal cavity. I mentally, and perhaps physically, experienced a clicking similar to having a cleared nostril passage as sinus pressure is alleviated from a stuffy nose.

Suddenly felt a sensation of fluid dripping down my nasal cavity towards my throat. Felt like i was breathing from both nostrils, and like a space had opened up in my head. Sensation may be akin to what is described in some texts as amrit (requires further research). Hypothesis is that the sensation is the result of lymphatic drainage and circulation. The muscle tension in the left eye was likely causing pressure along either one of the lymphatic pathways, or perhaps restricting ventricle space and reducing/impinging the movement of CSF. This may have caused a blockage in the lymphatic-brain pathway, and reduced the efficacy of waste removal and fluid cycling. The muscle tension itself appears to be caused by a subconscious effort to assert some modicum of control over my thoughts, or parts of self. I say this because when this release occurred, awareness shifted towards a more centric global view, where neither side of the visual/mental focus felt dominant in the face area. Thoughts came that were both logical and emotional in context, light and dark in nature. If i focused on the thoughts, it would distract from remaining relaxed and focused on keeping the channels opened.

One image that i found useful was a hollow reed or straw with the air moving in and out. My body straight and aligned so it flows effortlessly. I found it difficult to consistently maintain, and constantly found myself consciously shifting the tension imbalance until i experienced the same sort of alignment at the nasal cavity until a dripping sensation occurred.Noticed a difference in the pressure in my ears. The left seemed clogged/blocked/impigned, while the right felt clean and clear. Felt like fluid pressure was pushing against an obstruction in my eustachian tube or perhaps one of the lymphatic glands/ducts by the ear.

When able to hold this position, tension appears to go away in body, and muscle relaxation in eyes/face occurs. After approx 1 hr of sitted meditation, attempted to maintain open relaxation and sensation of fluid running down nasal cavity, like having water enter the nostril and run down the throat; almost like a visceral overly refreshed feeling, with a slight tingling. Was able to experience the sensation afterwards with eyes opened, and also in various positions such as laying on a bed on back and side positions.

Following day, ~ +21 hours after ingestion, mental state normalized, seated meditation for approx 75 minutes. felt tension in eye again, though not as intense as previous. Tried to consciously shift tension to open passageway and alleviate strain. Found it slightly more difficult and more subtle in feeling. Felt shifting occur and sensation of nasal drip. Thoughts were hard to shift awareness from and focus on staying aligned with centered breath. Left ear was popping occasionally (used a water/peroxide mix earlier in the day in hopes to remove any wax obstructing my ear because of previously perceived pressure issue, seemed to help balance the perceived pressure). Will test further. Appears i have acquired a new sensation and way of delving into the body.

Additional things to note:
Tongue was pressed to roof of mouth, found my tongue applying an alternating level of pressure against the roof almost like a semi-rapid flexing, likely a muscle twitch response due to the LSD. May have exacerbated the experience and helped with massage and alleviating muscle tension and helping the flow of fluids along the cranial space. Thoughts or conscious suppression thereof may be the cause of physical tensions in the body. By focusing on the breathing and consciously centering and relaxing the body and mind to shift and let go, it seems possible to adjust/redirect tension or remove it altogether. Subsequent result may be an increased awareness of bodily function or flowing of fluids (energy/chi/CSF/lymphatic drainage), which may have regenerative and healing capacities as reduction of tension allows body to circulate fluids without restriction and enhance waste removal and nutrient dispersement, supporting the association between meditation and healing physical ailments. Tensions seemed to be positively correlated and linked such that the degree of one may attenuate or alleviate another like links in a chain, where one off-section can subtly effect other issues in different regions. Example, it seems alleviating the tension in my left eye helped to alleviate tension felt in the left shoulder.  It’s like twisting a rope, when you let go and stop holding onto/producing tension, it has nowhere to go but to become undone.
